Giving Old Laptops a New Lease on Life: A Corporate Commitment to Refugees at "Burgerplatform - Plateforme Citoyenne"

In the fast-paced world of technology, it's easy for businesses to accumulate old equipment. In the past years, our company found itself in possession of a collection of outdated machines, some of which were no longer usable for our operations. Among them were 22 laptops that, while no longer suitable for our corporate needs, still had plenty of potential for basic computing tasks. Instead of letting them gather dust or end up in a landfill, we embarked on a journey to revamp and repurpose these laptops for a meaningful cause.

We opted for an open-source system that was not only usable in its free version but could also be upgraded at a low cost to a lifetime license. This center hosts around 200 people who have fled their homes and have nothing more than the clothes on their backs.

We recognized that access to technology is a critical need for refugees as it can provide them with opportunities for education, communication, and skill development. So, we decided to refurbish and donate these laptops to Burgerplatform - Plateforme Citoyenne. But we didn't stop there; we also included a printer to enhance their capabilities.
