On the occasion of the European Week for Waste Reduction, whose theme this year is solidarity textiles, the Keyrus Foundation is organizing a collection of socks to benefit the association "chaussettes solidaires".
5 KG of socks were collected to be recycled. We have thus contributed to the social integration of people far from employment, to the reduction of waste and to the preservation of our natural resources by saving 80,000 liters of water and avoiding 125 kg of CO2 emissions.
This association is an innovative model of circular economy and solidarity which allows the social reintegration of people far from employment by sorting and recycling socks. Textile waste has a considerable impact on our planet.
20% of the world's water pollution comes from textiles and 10kg of recycled socks can save 250kg of CO2 emissions.
