Everything You Missed at Tableau Conference 2026

Keyrus Tableau Team

Tableau Conference 2026 is officially wrapped! Keyrus had an incredible time attending this year's flagship conference and spending 3 full days in the Data Village connecting with other #DataFam members.

Key Tableau Conference Takeaways

As always, our team learned A LOT at Tableau Conference. Here are our team's 3 key takeaways from TC26:

  1. Investment in the core Tableau product remains a priority alongside the push toward Tableau Next. Like everything else in business right now, AI remains a focus for Tableau. But rather than preserving AI capabilities exclusively for Tableau Next, Tableau announced that AI will be making its way across the broader product suite. This was showcased at Devs on Stage, where the team showcased new Tableau Desktop features, including drive time analysis in maps, transparent tooltips, and dynamic field formatting.

  2. Tableau Next MCP is now generally available. Tableau Next MCP, or Model Context Protocol, connects AI agents directly to Tableau’s analytics engine, returning trusted, business context-aware answers without exposing your underlying data. This eliminates the need to build and maintain custom connectors or API integrations. There were live demos throughout the conference showcasing how to connect Tableau to Claude, ChatGPT, and other LLMs.

  3. Tableau is evolving beyond a visualization tool. It starts with the semantic layer, also known as a centralized foundation that gives data consistent business meaning across every user and AI agent. Tableau Pulse then monitors key metrics and proactively surfaces alerts when something changes, eliminating the need to manually check dashboards. When action is needed, the action layer brings workflow automation directly into Tableau, while Inspector in Slack ensures alerts and follow-up questions meet people where they already work. The message was clear: less pulling reports, more acting on data in real time.

Keyrus Sponsored Happy Hour

We were proud to once again sponsor a Travel, Hospitality, and Transportation happy hour alongside Tableau. This, now annual, event brings together leaders and #datafam members from the Travel & Hospitality sector to network, share lessons learned, and have some fun. Plus, the beautiful weather in San Diego always makes for a great night with our #DataFam!
