Keyrus Canada proudly celebrates the International Women’s Day and continue to lead the fight in favour of the gender equality. We decided to cover some actuality topics with our employees.
Our position and our values are obvious but we wanted to know if the way we apply them on a daily basis is the right one. All our female employees interviewed agreed that Keyrus Canada respects and promotes gender equality. Harim Jung states that Keyrus Canada is “a work environment with gender equality”, supported by Indra Hernandez who proclaims the importance of “ […], a culture that value and respect the individuals regardless of the gender and gives them an equal opportunity for advancement within the company” However , most of them would like to see a larger set of women in management and leadership positions and help in career development.
The women recruitment is in the company actuality’s heart, as Rose Pouliot, Director of Human Resources, underlines the difficulties encountered in a predominantly male market: " The pool of applicants who apply for our roles are mainly men and it's not always easy, despite our efforts, to break that gap. [...]. Hence, we apply this mentality in our recruitment process and make sure that every individual we hire is hired because they are the absolute best for the job regardless of gender. "
Here, a bigger issue is raised: the place of women in the data world. It is true that the under-representation is not negligible. According to Yi-Jen Tu, Senior Data Consultant, "There is no doubt that we need more women in the field. To do so this, is to ask myself and other senior colleages to continue encourging the junior colleagues and provide a safe place for them to share thier thoughts and struggles." However, although there are fewer women, there is real progress in terms of presence in the industry, even if parity has not yet been achieved. Kelly Zhang, Data Consultant, is optimistic: "In recent years, there has been a growing recognition of the importance of gender diversity in the data industry […]. Women bring diverse perspectives and skills to the world of data, which can lead to better outcomes in problem-solving, decision-making, and innovation." According to this, we're on the right track, and we intend to continue our efforts for this cause.
At Keyrus Canada, we are proud to have brilliant women who contribute every day to our success and development. They have all contributed to great achievements in all areas and fuel our current success. Awareness is everyone's business, and this is not a one-day battle. We will continue to uphold our values to ensure women have the place they deserve in our industry.
Thank you all!
