Building a Global Cross-border E-commerce Platform

Background

This enterprise , one of the largest integrated manufacturers of motion control products in China, has been expanding its business across America, Europe, and Asia since 2000. It is currently ranked among the top in its league by evolving into the only Chinese enterprise among the seven largest manufacturers of hybrid stepper motors worldwide. With the arrival of the digital era, it sought to innovate its business, optimize its customer experience, and expand its traditional business ecosystem. To make its goals a reality, the company decided to build a specialized global cross-border e-commerce platform to attract more potential customers based on providing existing overseas markets with better services.

Challenge

The lack of systematic management of dealers' orders forced the enterprise to utilize lots of human resources to carry out statistical work, resulting in delays in order fulfilment, difficulties in order tracking by dealers, and other such issues. Link online payments between multiple countries countries and regions with the corss-border platform? The platform required a function that enabled switching between multiple countries and languages.

Approach

Implement multi-channel sales, improve the user experience, and enhance the efficiency and convenience of cross-border transactions with SAP Commerce Cloud, an omnichannel commerce solution (including enhancement modules for pre-sales, after-sales, product orders, and enterprise content) with a wide array of functions and business models. Establish a unified portal for dealers to place orders so that they can log in and operate independently. Establish a link between the quick payment channels in China (Alipay and WeChat) and overseas (Visa, Paypal, and Mastercard), and other channels.

The enterprise enabled an independent order function on the platform and a process management function of paid/received orders by Chinese and overseas customers.
