Background

Our client is a global leader in advanced piping systems for building, infrastructure, industrial and agriculture applications. They provide sustainable, innovative solutions for water and energy and are present in over 40 countries, with a global workforce of over 14,000 employees.

Challenge

Over the years, our client acquired a significant amount of manufacturing companies across the globe however the integration of entities and exchange of information is not always evident. The different regional branches often unwittingly compete between themselves on pricing, leading to loss of margin. A solution to make information on their sales activities visible and readily accessible via a globalized data platform was required.

Approach

The first step was to define the best suited data ingestion, transformation and storage components for the future data platform. As a next step, we recommended Master Data Management (MDM) principles and data catalogue components. Simultaneously we implemented small end-to-end proof of concepts to demonstrate the actual value of our recommendations. Our mission also included defining best practice data governance principles to ensure future data quality. Finally, we recommended the best approach, with a corresponding on-boarding roadmap for each geographical region, to ensure logical and efficient integration of all entities into the global platform.
