How to Prepare for Tableau Next

Matthew Miller, Tech Lead

The full release of Tableau Next is right around the corner, and if your organization is planning to utilize this all-new product environment and what it has to offer, then you must prepare for the changes. Readying your technology, data, and people will be paramount to getting the most out of deploying Tableau Next.

Technology Preparation

As you prepare for Tableau Next, you want to ensure that certain technology aspects are properly prepared.

CRMA: Take stock of your CRMA reports and recipes to identify content to move into Tableau Next, Semantics, Metrics, and Dashboards.

Tableau Next: Access to Tableau Next and Analytics AI Agents is included in Tableau+ licensing, which is new as of 2025.

Data Cloud: Tableau+ will include a Data Cloud environment for you to use with Tableau Next. If you do not currently have Data Cloud configured and ingesting or querying your data (and likely even if you do), then this will be a crucial step along the way.

Data Preparation

After your technology is prepared, there are critical data preparation measures necessary to be ready for Tableau Next.

Source Systems: We need to ensure that all necessary source data is categorized and prioritized before any movement, since Tableau Next is based on Data Cloud connections.

Data Cloud: We need to verify ingestion and querying via batching/streaming is working efficiently on a schedule or using minimal resources when leveraging Zero Copy streaming.

Tableau Semantics: Once your data is streaming and available in Data Cloud, the all-new Tableau Semantics is where we’re going to now take advantage of the familiarity and ease of use of Tableau’s existing modeling capabilities.

People Preparation

Finally, you'll need to ensure your team is ready and organized for Tableau Next.

Roles & Skills: Tableau Next and Agentforce specifically will give your data users the opportunity to expand their skills and value to the team. Existing technical expertise and knowledge of data and internal needs can drive the creation and refining of new Agents for end users.

Champions: At Keyrus, we believe now more than ever is the time to identify and build champions around Tableau and your data. The out-of-the-box and custom AI features in Tableau Next need to have trusted voices in your organization who can communicate what is being used, and how, to leadership and stakeholders.
