Keyrus is proud to announce that we are now a certified Great Place to Work! We already knew that we love working at Keyrus, but as a data and digital consulting firm, we like our assumptions to be backed by data. That’s why we brought in the experts at Great Place to Work to survey our team to see how we’re doing and where we can improve.
Our success - both in our business and in our culture - can be attributed to the talented, hard working, and caring people that make up the Keyrus US team. As a consulting services company, our product is our people, and we strive to create an environment that promotes career growth to help employees reach professional goals while fostering a supportive and enjoyable community. Keyrus employees are curious, smart, collaborative, and eager to solve real business problems while growing their skill sets. While many Keyrusians start with us early in their careers, the projects that they work on are significant and the guidance they get from their managers and their project teams helps them gain experience and expertise quickly. We love to see our employees grow, and we enjoy getting feedback to help us do everything we can to make Keyrus a great place to work.
Great Place to Work is a global authority on workplace culture that recognizes organizations based on employee feedback. To be considered, organizations must meet the criteria of a Trust Index survey and submit information about company culture. You can view our results on our Great Place to Work page, or check out some of the survey highlights that we’re especially proud of below.
94% of employees at Keyrus US say it’s a great place to work compared to 59% of employees at a typical U.S.-based company. (Source: Great Place to Work® 2019 U.S. National Employee Engagement Study.)
We work with world-class partners and data analytics platforms to build modern data platforms for our clients, while giving our employees the training and support they need to master consulting practices and grow in their careers. Keyrus consultants get first-hand experience implementing projects using in-demand technologies from our partners like Tableau, Alteryx, Talend, AWS, Snowflake, and more. Our consultants receive guidance while working under highly experienced project managers and supervisors who have completed dozens of similar projects before.
When staff gives feedback, the management team takes it seriously and each year we adjust our initiatives, programs, and benefits to adapt and grow with our team (some benefits that have come from employee feedback include 401k matching, educational stipends, and social and cultural events). Additionally, Keyrus US employees enjoy the culture of a tight-knit and innovative startup-style company with the support of a large internationally recognized brand.
Joost Zandvliet, Senior Strategy Consultant, New York:
“At Keyrus I get exposed to clients from a variety of industries with their own unique challenges, which I get to thoroughly understand, structure, and solve. I really love doing that, especially with the fun group of people that we have here; ready to help wherever and whenever you need.”
Can you guess the most common word mentioned in the survey feedback? People. Keyrus employees love working with their colleagues. Even while working remotely, people stayed connected through communication tools and virtual happy hours and supported each other when new challenges arose. The team is collaborative, friendly, and supportive, but don’t just take our word for it - hear what the team has to say:
Norman Chea, Director, Washington DC:
“I enjoy working with the people we have here. It's an open-door policy across the organization and everyone is willing to help on a problem and share their experiences.”
Ryan Koch, Senior Consultant, New York:
“Our culture is the best. Everyone is approachable, the atmosphere is fun and uplifting, and work-life balance is respected. It's what makes me love working here every single day.”
We loved this statistic because our management strives for transparency and honesty with employees.
Last year, when COVID created uncertainty around client engagements and in-office plans, the management team held weekly meetings for team transparency into live developments.
We see this topic as part of our team’s development as well. When employees become managers at Keyrus, they complete management training that we acquired and tailored from specialist management training consultancy. We teach constructive feedback, performance coaching, emotional intelligence, diversity and unconscious bias, management maturity, and more. Behind this training is the belief that caring about one another personally while challenging each other professionally is a key to success. To instill this in the culture, we strive to show transparency in our business model and even vulnerability, allowing the team to understand what we are doing and challenge it.
We have designed a Quarterly Performance Review (QPR) matrix specifically designed to highlight the skills needed to excel in each role. Using these clearly-defined guidelines, we are able to track progress in various technologies, change management, business development, and soft skills like communication. Many of our managers and senior leaders have been promoted from within, so junior employees can trust that their managers can coach them through challenges and guide them to success.
Hila Gendelman, Director, Miami:
“I love the people - highly professional, always willing to help, lend advice, or just listen. Keyrus has this one-of-a-kind care for the team and it shows by management's actions. As Keyrus puts its employees first, they build together with you your career path according to your personal desires and interests. They offer opportunities to develop technical and tool-specific expertise and managerial skills. All doors are open at Keyrus as long as you communicate your ambitions.”
We take work-life balance seriously. That means a flexible time-off policy so that our employees can rest and recharge, and a hybrid remote schedule for employees working at our five US-based offices. Keyrus employees receive career development opportunities similar to those of bigger consulting firms while maintaining their desired level of work-life balance.
Adam Mico, Tableau Evangelist, Remote (Madison, WI)
“I learned that Keyrus combines talent, inclusion, and empathy into a celebration of learning, teamwork, and success. Work is complex, exciting, and challenging. Management is transparent and cares deeply about work-life balance while fostering a positive and supportive employee culture. Joining this team has been a fulfilling experience.”
Our results from the Great Place to Work survey have given us a lot to celebrate and be proud of. They have also given us some insights into where we can continue to improve our employee experience to make Keyrus an even greater place to work.
We’re looking forward to bringing our virtual happy hours and social gatherings back in person (once it is safe to do so), and we’re evolving our events to focus more on small group activities. To keep building a growth mindset culture, we’ve launched semi-monthly training for technical & business skills, which we already review quarterly. As we strengthen new partnerships with AWS and Salesforce, employees will also have the opportunity to gain a wider variety of technical skills. Finally, we continue to seek feedback from our employees to ensure that our culture and benefits continue to develop with our team.
