Background

Our client is a municipally owned public utility in Florida established in 1923. It serves as one of the largest municipal utilities in Florida, providing electric, water, and more to over 240,000 customers. They operate a diverse generation portfolio and are actively pursuing clean energy initiatives.

Challenge

Data is stored in disparate systems, with CRM data in Salesforce, customer care/billing data in Oracle, and weather/energy management in SQL databases. This required teams to perform manual analyses, which are resource-intensive, time-consuming, and error-prone. Improved tools, processes, and data literacy are needed to enable users to be more data-drive in their daily work.

Approach

Strategic Roadmap: Keyrus conducted a discovery phase to gather insights to the current organizational capabilities and pain points. This allowed Keyrus to tailor the implementation roadmap, technology proposals, and data governance recommendations to the organization. Build on Scalable Cloud Solutions: Modern and scalable cloud tools are critical to this implementation to meet our client's needs for security, advanced analytics capabilities, and cost-efficiency. Enable Self-Service Analytics Capabilities: Keyrus worked with the client to implement a self-service model that enabled end users to perform their own analysis, beyond standard reporting. This reduced dependence on IT and enabled business to become data-driven quickly. Focus on Data Governance: Security and governance are critical to our client. We developed a data governance organization, including defined policies and processes that helped our client manage their data effectively.
