Building Assessments’ data collected
People trained and ready to use Keyrus developed dashboards
Our client, MassPort, is the port authority for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Massport covers over 200 buildings and utilities, has 3 aviation facilities, and numerous maritime locations. They generate $22 billion in economic activity and provide direct jobs. Because of all of these locations and people associated with Massport, they have an incredibly large and complex data landscape.
Massport needed a more effective and efficient way to access information about the agency's infrastructure assets - more than 200 buildings and utilities across three airports and multiple marine facilities. Massport was looking to understand their data to better address infrastructure needs, such as terminals and lighting. At Massport, there were three major challenges to overcome: 1. Undefined processes for infrastructure data collection, management, and dissemination 2. Disconnected data sources and limited accessibility hindered decision-making and Capital Improvement Planning 3. Limited baseline knowledge of existing infrastructure conditions
Keyrus worked with leadership and key stakeholders to identify the challenges the agency faced in accessing and analyzing infrastructure data. Keyrus then created a roadmap and data strategy to gather, analyze, and utilize the data to drive decisions and achieve business objectives. We developed a centralized platform named MICA to integrate the various tools and technologies to make data accessible to business teams. Keyrus also provided change management expertise to ensure user adoption and to integrate new data processes and tools into business operations. Our approach had 3 main phases: 1. Data Sources: Gather data from sources including Trust Agreement, Building Condition Assessments, Utilities Condition Assessments, Capital Investment Plan Projects, Keywords, LEED, MASA, and Resiliency. 2. Storage, Processing, and Modeling: Use a Landing Zone with AWS Cloud and Amazon S3. Build a Data Warehouse with Snowflake and use Data Modeling for the raw data. 3. Consumption: Create accessible and reliable dashboards with Tableau and Snowflake, as well as custom solutions for data to be consumed by everyone, including Directors, Program Managers, Airport/Maritime Operations Managers
Through the maximum utilization of technologies, our work delivered a comprehensive assessment of Massport infrastructure to inform strategic business decisions. Massport now has a centralized repository for Infrastructure data to enable leaders to better use and manage infrastructure. This multiple award-winning platform that has been included in a worldwide news record, has enabled Massport to proactively address infrastructure, sustainability, and energy needs as well as secure appropriate funding, backed by data.
What our clients say
"The dashboards contain helpful graphical summaries to get specific data points that help provide a complete picture of building-related sustainability conditions and performance."
