The customer is a globally recognized scientific organization dedicated to advancing knowledge and research across the sciences. It manages an extensive portfolio of academic journals and a large membership base of professionals, researchers, and educators. The organization’s mission centers on promoting innovation, facilitating collaboration within the scientific community, and providing reliable access to high-quality research publications and resources.
The organization was operating on a legacy data warehouse that was over two decades old, creating significant inefficiencies across its publication and membership programs. The outdated system made it difficult to track key journal metrics such as article submissions, acceptances, and rejections, while siloed data limited visibility into member engagement and readership trends. Manual data processing and inconsistent data quality further hindered timely reporting and decision-making. As the organization’s data volume grew, performance issues and scalability limitations became more pronounced, highlighting the urgent need for a modern, cloud-based solution that could support advanced analytics, improve data governance, and deliver a unified view of operations.
Keyrus took a phased, strategic approach focused on modernization, scalability, and usability. We began by assessing the organization’s existing data ecosystem to identify inefficiencies and prioritize quick wins. In the first phase, our team implemented Talend-based ETL pipelines to automate and streamline data ingestion from multiple journal and membership systems. Next, we migrated the legacy warehouse to a modern, cloud-native architecture on AWS, improving performance and scalability while reducing maintenance overhead. Finally, we deployed Tableau dashboards and a centralized data catalog to enhance data accessibility and empower business users with self-service analytics. Throughout the engagement, Keyrus ensured alignment with the organization’s long-term data strategy, enabling a seamless transition to a more efficient, insight-driven environment.
