Turning data into meaningful business information
Keyrus implements Tableau as embedded visibility layer for Grindrod optimisation project
Powerful analytics and data visualisation are critical components of any data automation implementation. For this reason, leading business data intelligence consultancy Keyrus chose Tableau Embedded Analytics as the key visibility layer when appointed to digitalise Grindrod’s southern African Terminal operations. The project has enabled the logistics giant to optimise its entire logistics process and Tableau is playing a key role in enabling faster, data-driven decision-making across the business.
Keyrus, a Gold Tableau Partner are honored that their Grindrod Terminals progressive and powerful Tableau solution is featured in Tableau’s upcoming webinar series showcasing worldwide success stories.
The series features interviews with data leaders from five major international customers who are turning data into new business opportunities with Tableau embedded solutions. The Grindrod webinar will introduce Tableau EMEA’s CTO, Francois Zimmermann, Grindrod’s Data and Analytics Manager Bronwyn Burdis, as well as Stephen Coull, Sales Director, and a senior Tableau consultant Craig Andrew from Keyrus.
“We now have clear visibility throughout our terminal operations,” comments Vishal Deeplaul, CEO of Grindrod’s Terminals business. “Our management teams have access to relevant information, at the appropriate level of detail, and can act promptly. Timely insight into operational constraints is a key benefit of this project and one that will help us secure our leadership position in the industry for the future.”
Grindrod Terminals was initially faced with constrained flow of information to key decision-makers. The organisation needed accurate, real-time insight into its operations and decided to invest in technology as a platform for strategic change and growth into the future.
Keyrus implemented a solution including a combination of data streaming, analytics, logic matching and visualisation technologies to enable a single source of the truth. “The embedded visualisation layer of reporting turns the data into meaningful business information,” explains Craig Andrew, senior consultant and certified Tableau expert at Keyrus.
“The visualisation software now delivers dramatically improved analytical and reporting capabilities. In the new framework, all data is fed through cloud services to a near real-time operational data warehouse. Tableau then offers complete reporting and analytics capability at an operational, tactical and strategic level,” comments Bronwyn Burdis, Data and Analytics Manager at Grindrod’s Terminal business. “Information consumption is now simpler, and the interface ensures a pleasant user experience.”
“Essentially we have closed and integrated the information gap between Grindrod’s operations and top management. Which is in line with our overall purpose – assist enterprises in leveraging their data and information to enhance their performance. In short, make data matter” says Greg Guye, CEO at Keyrus.
